DIY: hello kitty nails

I saw some pictures online of hello kitty nails and I got inspired to try and do some on my own since I'm a Hello Kitty Lover! I just used what I had on hand in my extensive nail polish collection and luckily I had all the colors I needed. After many toothpicks and chocolate breaks, I finally finished. It was a bit tricky and very time consuming, but it was fun and I'm kind of proud of them, although there are some bumpy parts and not all the eyeballs and nose are the same size.

Here's what I used:
1) Red Nail polish, I used Nic's Sticks by Nicole by OPI in "Date Night". Its a red color with glittery shine.
2) Black Nail Polish, I used a very dark navy blue which looks black thankfully, Nicole by OPI's "No Limits"
3) White Nail Polish, I used OPI's "Alpine Snow"
4) Yellow Nail Polish, I used OPI's "Need Sunglasses"
side note: don't you just love OPI/ Nicole's nail polish names? So cute.
5) Top Coat, I used Nicoles.
6) a lot of toothpicks, preferably ones with one blunt end.
7) Nail polish remover

BTW, please excuse my ugly, long weird fingers. And also the messy marks, I took these photos right after I finished them! :)
Step One: Paint all nails half white (french tip) Paint a little more than a classic french tip, as this will make it easier to paint on the bow and face. If you do not have a steady hand, don't worry, you can use a little brush and erase the excess white away with nail polish remover.
Step Two: With the red nail polish you can either brush or use a toothpick to dab on the bow in the bottom corner of each nail. I used both since it was harder to do on my right hand.
Step Three: With another toothpick, dot the eyes using the black (dark blue) nail polish. This part gets hard because its hard to make the eyes symmetrical.
Step Four: Using the blunt end of a toothpick, add on the nose with the yellow nail polish
Last Step: Whiskers~ Using the toothpick again, strip on the whiskers. Three on each side, then VOILA! Don't forget to add top coat!! I applied 3 coats to help ensure this lasts super long!!
Happy Hello Kitty Nail painting!!
XOXO
Jen
